The band was formed in early September of 2007 by singer/guitarist Jay Indorato, Bassist Tommy Morse.
In June 2008 they released there first album "34 Miles To Empty” Recorded at Silent Owl Studios of Pine Island NY. Joined by the production team of John Collura and Paul Carabello (both formally of the rock band The Ataris). The album was finished by June of 2008. The bands first show was headlining a cancer benefit at Rye Playland . In October the band had their first headlining gig at The Chance Theater in Poughkeepsie NY. In 2009 the band co headlined the chance with Valory Records Recording artist Jimmy Wayne to a sold out crowd. In March the band entered the NYC market playing Fontana’s and The Bitter End.
Gustavo Morales(lead guitar/backup vocals) joined the band In June of 2009. The band played Don Hills and The Crash Mansion in NYC. Waking Up East played Winerys, Fund Raisers, Street Fairs, Festivals, Cancer benefits and in October 09 the Chance Theater asked Waking Up East to open for Everclear. The band also helped organize and headline a fund raiser for the Cornwall High School Drama and Arts Department.
In October of 2009 Dean Burlon Jr., winner of 2009 Emergenza bast drummer, took over as the new drummer. In November, Waking Up East broke into the New Jersey market. The band also played colleges like University of Penn. with Snoop Dogg. On Dec 19th of 2009, Waking Up East was chosen by Hudson Valley radio station WRRV to headline a concert with 25 other local bands for the 1st Annual WRRV Chestnut Roast/ Jen Coudrey Memorial Scholarship Fund Concert.
In January of 2010 the band was interviewed and got our song ICU (song will be in Local Lockdown Rotation) on WRRV 92.7/96.9 FM out of Poughkeepsie NY the band's current CD, was recorded in Silent Owl Studios, titled “Bright And Blue”. Working again with the production team of John Collura and Paul Carabello.
