 Canadian country group, Vannatta are well known for their original cowboy country, hillbilly bluegrass music, all attributed to their roots and heritage. A hard working group that has a great line up of events in 2009, from Cowboy Country, Bluegrass, to Roots and Folk Festivals. For many years band leader Larry Vannatta performed and recorded with his group "Straight Clean & Simple", where he played over 75 gigs a year and played on main stage with the likes of Waylon Jennings, Jason McCoy, Travis Tritt, Michael Wright, Prairie Oyster, Marty Stuart, Ian Tyson, Johnny Rivers, to the beach Boys to name a few. Larry recorded four albums (all penned by himself) with Straight, Clean & Simple and released 18 singles and received Back to Back Canadian Juno Nominations for Canadian Country Group of the Year. Now Vannatta is back better than ever taking his new group called "Vannatta" to new heights. With the release of three albums, eight Hillcrest cd single, their fan base has grown worldwide. Tracks like 'Loven you Baby", Johnny Play it again", "Common Folk", "Too Much is not Enough", Alberta Rocky Mountain Spring", "Down Memory Lane", have charted in these countries, Germany, Belgium, Demark, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Malta, UK, Australia. Live performances on main stages such as, South & North Country Fairs, The Great Canadian Bluegrass Festival (David Thompson Resort), Pincher Creek & Willow Creek Cowboy Gathering, Longview Music and Arts Festival, Arts Touring Alliances of Alberta, Shady Groves Bluegrass Festival, Alberta Association of Agricultural Societies, Calgary Stampede, Rodeos, Private and Corporate functions, to country dances all have drawn exposure and awareness to Vannatta's appealing and entertaining originality. In 2007 Vannatta took time to record a live cd called "Cowboys & Soldiers". This seventeen song cd was inspired after performing at the Col Belcher Canadian War Vets hospital the past eight years. It is loaded with heritage songs and really started the root juices flowing. We felt the need to give back and dedicated the cd and most of the proceeds have gone toward, the Vets Angels and The Royal Canadian Legion Poppy fund for our Canadian War Vets. (Over 2000 Albums have been sold) Now in 2009 their third cd: "Redneck Thoroughbreds" has just been released. The cd is filled with a variety of original music and styles from, Ozarks, Jimmy Buffet, Pure Prairie League, Bob Dylan to Hank Jr. Back porch roots music with a contemporary inflection. It was inspired driving along the Rocky Mountains in the land of Rednecks. Organic compositions, laced with their own acoustic & electric guitars, harmonica, mandolin, fiddle, and Spanish guitars, all dressed up with a redneck favor. This new cd album was just released in January, of 2009 and has already drawn rave reviews and new radio play worldwide. |
