 Thelonious Dub performs instrumental originals and works by Monk, Radio Head and others - Soul and jazz interleaved with New Orleans and Reggae influences. Draws from groups like Weather Report, Bill Frisell, John Scofield, Chris Potter. To pursue this sound, Thelonious Dub adds electric sitar, synthesizers, & effects. “Master Plan B” (2010) is their second release. It features the quartet performing all original material. Their first album “Thelonious Dub” (2009) features 10 songs by Monk, Miles, Shorter and Mingus and Bartone. Thelonious Dub performs in the Los Angeles and Bay area. They formed in 2007 by ambient dub guitarist Joe Bartone . Drummer Sean Rainey adds Reggae, New Orleans, Trip Hop, and “Drum&Bass” grooves. Thelonious Dub features Brandon Schmidt on Upright Bass and Space Kyle tenor sax. |
