In December 2000, the band was formed with original members Mike and Joey wanting to blend the individual elements of each other’s personality and musical background. As their friendship grew, they realized they had something in common; each came from families that had experienced tragedy and turmoil. Seeking to use their experiences in life to give the band its direction, they decided to adopt the name Salting Job, a reference to the biblical character Job who endured incredible hardship but maintained his faith. The band became complete in early 2002 with the addition of Doug and Steve. The four quickly achieved solidarity in their friendship and musicianship.

Salting Job developed a serious work ethic and soon discovered a penchant for creating music that is diverse yet still manages to keep a hook. Combining smooth, textual melodies with raw emotion accompanied by odd time signatures and aggressive rhythms the band soon settled on its style, which could be best described as textured metal. They took their sound and show to the Houston, TX live music scene and quickly became known as a top local act. The band released its first CD, 2003s self-titled Salting Job and set up a website that affords the web surfer the ability to listen to the album in its entirety as well as find out information on the band and its activities.

Currently the band continues to explore its musical influences and finesse its live show. The band is eager to continually evolve and achieve and is working hard to ensure success. Now with more attention being directed at the band, it has become apparent that the name, as spelled, is too confusing to read properly. So the decision has been made to add and e in parentheses to the end and the band is now officially known as Salting Job(e).

Salting Job(e) continuously builds its fan base through its live shows and knows that with the right combination of support, timing and luck that it will be able to spread its massage of triumph over grief and achieve its goals of success.
