East Texas singer songwriter, Shelley Anderson
came from a musical family one of eight kids and
has been singing and performing for as long
as she can remember. But not until 1996, did Shelley
begin writing her own lyrics and composing. "You start
to write when there's more to say and the music
out there isn't saying it," explains Shelley.
In 1999, the music album entitled, Just Like A Ball
was created. This was Shelley Anderson's first published
project in Houston,Texas which was the result of parents and teachers asking for the songs that Shelley had specifically
written for her music classes. An unusual album not only
because of its original music, but this singer songwriter
intended to write songs that would allow children to learn advanced
concepts through music. Every word, line, and stanza is rich with information
and purpose yet preserves the main ingredient : easy to learn and easy to sing.
More requests produced yet another similar project with similar objectives,
Music For Busy Hands And Feet. Shelley Anderson created this album
for the youngest of audiences, birth to 4 years. These songs are anything but
lullabies for sleepyheads! A Christmas Howdy! was a natural expectation of
parents and teachers then followed a collection of Christian inspirational songs
for young children entitled, I Believe. This album is a personal favorite of
Shelley Anderson because she especially wrote some of the songs for
children who needed help and encouragement at the time. Shelley was
able to personally witness the help it brought.
Recently in 2006, Shelley Anderson had the opportunity to sing and perform her
rodeo wranglin songs at the largest livestock show and rodeo of its kind in
the United States, The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, at Rodeo
University in the Reliant Center. Shelley's rodeo songs received an
overwhelmingly positive response. She will be returning to Houston in 2007
to entertain again. She expects to complete this album adding new song
titles January, 2007.
As with all of her music, Shelley Anderson’s rodeo wranglin songs are as
fresh and original as they are entertaining and informative. Inspired by
long established rodeo traditions, this singer songwriter writes rodeo songs
that all ages can enjoy that capture the true wranglin spirit. Shelley's songs
are all about rodeo drama, dreams, heartache, winning and losing,
all real life experiences of the working rodeo cowboy and cowgirl.
Cowboys and cowgirls who love what they do, give it their all, all year long.
Experiencing life in the country is a large part of Shelley's background.
Even as a young girl, she remembers countless cowgirl rides
on the family pony, Pepper, imagining herself exploring the west on
her family's 5 acre farm. She grew up listening to many wonderful
stories about family and relatives and life as they knew it on the farm
with horses and livestock all cherished memories.
Shelley Anderson will tell you that there's no better place to write songs
on her acoustic guitar than at the small Texas ranch house on 26 acres
that she and her husband own in the deep Pineywoods of East Texas.
