Originally from Charlotte, NC, Laura Ashworth now resides in Brevard, NC. Surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, she writes songs that are soul stirring as the sight of the fog-blanketed mountain ridges stretching to infinity. Elegant in her composition, her music has an eclectic sound ranging from alternative country, bluegrass, gospel, pop, rock, blues and folk. Additionally, she is brilliantly creative in composing inspiring instrumentals using the keyboard, fiddle and guitar. Pulling out every core emotion, her instrumentals have been described as magical and life enriching.

She is also a member of the very popular award winning band Blue Mountain Myst accompanied by the Misty Mountain Boys who have made a name for themselves in the southeast. She produced the bands two CD’s, Kitchen Jam and Lonely Highways, and wrote and co-wrote most of their songs with the other Blue Mountain Myst members Bitsy Davis and Beth Imme. The music of the Blue Mountain Myst has made it onto several southeastern radio waves and the band was featured live on PBS. In 2008, Lonely Highways was picked up for air play by the internet Outbound Country radio station in Houston, TX.
Their music has been reported in several publications as “music that will move your soul”, “poetic inspirations” and “a breath of fresh air”. With sounds of bluegrass, alternative country, folk, gospel and blues, Blue Mountain Myst’s original songs and sound bring truth and dreams to life in harmonious melody. They have performed all over the southeast selling out shows in major venues such as Douthat State Park and the Stonewall Theater in Virginia. Press reviews have reported, “Their quality of performance would make any Highlander proud to say they heard them live, right here at home.” "When Bitsy begins singing, it’s almost like a light radiates from her and caresses everyone in the audience.”When asked what inspires them, they state, "Our music is unique. We just have our own individual spirits and opinions and we put them together in music."

In addition to co-writing with her Blue Mountain Myst colleagues, Laura has co-written with other talented singer songwriters including Cindy Sealy, Kelley Corwin and her daughter, Erin Ashworth. Two of the songs that she co-wrote with Kelley Corwin, Road Work and Global Warming of the Heart, along with her song Prayer Warrior were showcased at the 2008 Richard Roddy Music Event in Crosby , TX with famous songwriters Allen Shamblin and Houston Marchmon. The songs received great feedback.

When asked what inspires her to write songs, Laura states, “I just write from the heart and put it to music.”

Instrumentation
The Blue Mountain Myst is comprised of Laura Ashworth, who plays the guitar, fiddle and back-up vocals; Beth Ihme, who plays the keyboard and back-up vocals and Bitsy Davis on lead vocals. The trio are accompanied by the amazing Mysti Mountain Boys, Denny Fitzgerald, who plays the guitar and banjo, Billy Berberette, who plays acoustic bass and Jeremy Berberette, who plays the mandolin. They have made a name for themselves and have a huge following in the southeast.
Some other astonishing musicians have also played with the Blue Mountain Myst, to include Michael Ashworth. He has backed them up on bass and guitar.
Aside from the Blue Mountain Myst, Laura has been very fortunate to work with several other talented musicians in producing and recording her songs. Global Warming of the Heart was recorded by the group Gypzee Heart who is award winning songwriter LeeAnn Atherton and famous Russian guitarist Zhenya Rock. On Road Work, LeeAnn Atherton is the vocalist and Rich Brotherton of the Robert Earl Keen Band, plays bass, acoustic guitar, electric guitar and mandolin. Rich Brotherton has won several awards for his guitar playing.
