"Jason's music is fresh, clever, fun, tongue-in-cheek, thought provoking, eclectic, unique, real, emotional, complex. In short, I feel Jason's music stands out from the pack. It grabs the listener with catchy melodies yet surprising harmonic elements. Although it is complex, it always comes across as if its creator is not taking it (or himself) too seriously."

Having released his second full-length album, Acoustic Boogaloo, Jason Consolacion (pronounced like the word "consolation") is establishing himself as an impressive singer-songwriter whose work is catching the ear of an expanding audience.
His style of rock incorporates a number of elements, including folk, jazz, blues and funk. A graduate of Houston's prestigious High School For The Performing And Visual Arts, and always dedicated to being a student of all types of music, Jason has used his knowledge of various styles to incorporate a fusion of all his tastes into a pop setting. Comparisons to Dave Matthews and John Mayer will be inevitable, but his ability to reach his audience on a personal level will never cease to stand out.
Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Jason moved with his family to Houston when he was 6. The son of a concert pianist, Jason turned the influence from his mother into a dream that has led him to where he is today - playing his songs and affecting people with pop- and jazz-laden melodies and lyrics everyone can relate to.
Other than his mother, Jason's musical influences cover a large variety of personalities, including Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Wes Montgomery, Elton John and Michael Jackson. However, Jason will be the first to tell you that his day starts and ends with two musical geniuses: Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder.
"I wouldn't have started writing music if it weren't for Paul Simon," Jason says. "I strive at emulating everything he does. As for Stevie, I just can't imagine where music would be without him. He's influenced so many of us and we all owe him more than we can ever give."
Those who have heard Jason's songs live or on disc have been taken by the freshness of the writing, singing and playing. The new record, Acoustic Boogaloo, features 12 songs, 10 of which were written by Jason. The album features acoustic performances of the songwriter's new tunes that lyrically speak of everything from love to heartache, childhood to maturation. The artist also offers his rendition of Michael Jackson's 1987 classic, "The Way You Make Me Feel," which features Houston jazz staple Kelly Dean on tenor sax. Also included is a Simon & Garfunkel medley of "America" and "Homeward Bound" which Jason has titled "A Poet And A One Man Band."
Jason's first full-length album, Everything's OK , was released at the beginning of 2004. The album features nine originals and a cover of Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative," which the singer-songwriter has transformed into an 8-minute funk jam. Jason released an EP in the Spring of 2003, which includes four originals and a modern rendition of The Beatles' "I've Just Seen A Face." Jason toured the east coast in the summer of 2004, gaining more fans in the Boston and New York City areas. He continues to play in bars, coffee shops and other performance venues in and around the Houston area.
