Born in Trinidad and raised on the east coast of Canada and the USA, Emmy grew up in a household filled with music, soaking up the sounds of everyone from Billie Holiday to Laura Nyro to Roberta Flack. She studied piano and flute at a young age and received a Silver Medal for Voice from the Toronto Conservatory of Music. Emmy began writing songs at the age of seven, under the tutelage of John C. O'Donnell (Men of the Deeps). Her song Here Tonight was a finalist in the Q104 Songwriting contest.

When Emmy Alcorn decided to record UNVEIL, her debut CD of deeply personal songs, she enlisted her brother John Alcorn as a co-writer and producer/arranger. The result is a recording of fresh and seductive pop music, embracing Emmy's alluring vocal warmth and honest expression.

Emmy has made her mark as a renowned theatre artist, including a decade-long stint as Artistic Director of internationally acclaimed Mulgrave Road Theatre. Of particular note, Emmy produced three world premiere plays by the distinguished Canadian writer Daniel MacIvor, and originated the role of Louise in his much-loved play MARION BRIDGE. Emmy also starred in three critically acclaimed one-woman shows, THE HIGHLAND WIDOW TRILOGY, written for her by Ian Pygott.

UNVEIL celebrates a point of return for Emmy, and movingly discloses the depth of her long-hidden passion and artistry as both creator and performer of genuine, heartfelt music.
