The DEFiBULATORs are reinventing country music by molding bluegrass, rockabilly, dixieland, and punk into their own eclectic sound.
Emerging from the thriving roots scene in Brooklyn, and well-known throughout NYC for their irresistibly infectious and rowdy live shows, The Defibs wield an arsenal of guitars, banjos, fiddles, and junkyard percussion with relentless energy and virtuosity. They jumpstart new life into vintage country music, delivering a unique sound that is both timeless and timely, deep-fried and downtown.
Razor sharp harmonies , clever arrangements, and dark, surreal lyrics illuminate songs that are gritty and witty; spinning tales of deception, debauchery, depleted bank accounts, fanaticism, vintage firearms, biological anomalies, airline intoxication, and animal ennui.
The Band's self-titled EP, accompanied by a self-published 24-page DEFiBULATORs Coloring Book, offers a peek into the spontaneity and humor that has become a trademark of the DEFiBULATORs experience.
Their new full-length album entitled "Corn Money", produced by John Hill (Santogold), will be released in Winter of '09 on City Salvage Records. The Defibs will subsequently embark on a nationwide tour in the Spring.
The Defibulators proudly serve as the house band for "The Rejection Show" at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in NYC. They've also played numerous fairs and festivals in NYC, including high profile concerts for Central Park Summerstage, Guinness, Macy's, and The New Yorker Magazine. |
