OutboundMusic.Com offers independent recording artists an easy and inexpensive venue in which to air, promote, sell and thereby successfully exploit their music. There is NO other company on or off the Internet that provides the services we offer at such low rates.
What type of music does OutboundMusic.com catalog? We accept only top-quality indepenent music from all musical genres. We approve only submissions from artists owning their masters or from that artist's legal representative.
Are there any fees associated with membership?
We charge a one-time, non-refundable fee of $5.00 for your initial music submission/membership request. Beyond that, there are no fees. We believe the privilege of dealing only in quality music is compensation enough to offset the work we do for you.
What will you do for me, the artist?
1. We build you a web page with bio information, picture, a link to your web site and a picture of your CD(s) and the track listing(s). Your web page comes with a fully-functional store for selling your music. Your music can be sold as digital singles, digital CDs and physical CDs.
2. We will prepare clips of all singles from your CD to feature on your OutboundMusic page, and we can provide you with html code to feature your songs elsewhere on any website you control.
3. Your songs will be considered for broadcast on our Internet Radio.
4. For those artists who choose to sell other merchandise (t-shirts, caps, stickers, etc), we build an additional fully- functioanl store for selling that merchandise.
5. HTML Code to sell your music on any website you control. We can provide you with the HTML code that will allow you to sell your music on your own website, your MySpace page or on any other website you control.
6. Credit card sales for your live shows. If desired, we will provide you with an OutboundMusic credit card swipe machine and credit card slips. We will process all charges you present to us, and send the payment along with your payment for that month's online sales. A $35.00 deposit is required for this service.
7. Your CD and featured songs (and any additional merchandise) are listed in our database, offering the CD and any merchandise for sale at a prices set by you, the artist. We accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express, and we usually ship within 24 hours.
8. For the first two years of business, we licensed our radio with ASCAP and BMI. However, our songwriters were not receiving any royalty payments, so we have since opted to decline such licensing. Instead, we now offer a 'radio dividend' to each artist who distributes through OutboundMusic.com. Ten percent of all revenue that is generated from radio advertisement is to be divided equally among our artists.
9. We often include information about special performances in our MySpace blog and in our newsletters to fans and artists across the globe.
10. If you do not have a web site that offers your performance schedule, we can provide that feature on your OutboundMusic page.
11. You will be featured on our homepage on a rotating basis.
12. We occasionally sponsor live music events and will invite you to come and be part of our event, if the schedule permits.
How much will I make from music and merchandise sales?
You set the sale price of your CDs and merchandise and receive 80% from any online sales and 92% from any live sales using your OutboundMusic credit card swipe machine.
What's required of me? We ask you to place a link to your OutboundMusic web page from the store page of your web site (provided you have your own web site).
How will you decide whether or not to accept my music?
We are listening for several things. First, we want to hear a good production quality. Second, we want songs that are well-written and well-performed. And last, but not least, we do not want music containing lyrics that promote hate, bigotry, violence, drug abuse or sexual promiscuity. Controversial subject matter is ok. Expressions of anger or other emotions is ok. Language is ok--it's what is said, not how it's said that matters.

How do I get paid?
We pay artists for any sales on a monthly basis. Checks are usually cut on the seventh day of each month (for sales during the previous month).
Can I get my unsold CDs and merchandise back?
Yes. If you no longer wish to catalog a project with us we will send back any unsold CDs and merchandise at our expense.
