Robbi McMillen has just released his latest album ‘Façade’. Circling and pointing out his life and the lives of others, as well as the vast landscape that is Ireland is a major turning point in this young musician’s career, all of these done through ‘Façade’. As well as working passionatley with various broadcasting companies and radio stations, Robbi’s latest album also stems from his heart, and his soul, as well as his captivating drama and writing work.

Throughout his yet-young years as a recording artist, Robbi McMillen has been inspired by two great strengths which surround him on a daily basis. The first of these is the life, a deep sense of purpose and GO. Robbi has delved into the depths of faith and religion, as well as landscape and history, to inspire his own writing and often-complex arrangements. The second is others’ presence. Only too-willing to entertain his listeners, Robbi has considered every concert attendee a friend, and indeed an inspiration.

“I learn so much through meeting people during performances - usually at local sessions, and speaking to them afterwards. Through their happy tone or the hidden messages, barely visible on their faces, I can so easily learn quite a lot about the impact on today’s society on them. So they become the subject of my music.”

Only 16, and known throughout Northern Ireland, Robbi is one of the finest solo artists to emerge from Belfast’s ‘Gaelicscape’. McMillen has been the centre of many cultural and religious events in Belfast, and of course well heard during ‘The Cultúrlann Days’ with Cabéal. It makes no difference whether he is performing centuries-old Gaelic songs, his own original pieces or contemporary and operatic Christian laments, Robbi McMillen is here to stay!

There have been many milestones, rare for such a young artist - having already recorded two sought-after albums and published an intricate poetry collection. There is no need to try showing this teenager’s talent off. Although he has not sold the millions that others have, these milestones only seem to be tiny stepping-stones by an artist who will surely step right up to the top. It is clear that McMillen’s one-of-a-kind fusion of Irish and Scottish Gaelic culture will always stretch boundaries, keeping traditions and unique diversities alive.

One thing will remain Robbi’s greatest achievement above all other achievements, and that is his musical adventure in writing and recording, keeping both his Gaelic heritage and personal pieces fresh and within arm’s reach of the ears and hearts of people all over the island of Ireland, and Germany through his recordings.
