It's not what you think it is. This is not another re-riffed and re-worded acoustic Mraz / Mayer / Matthews rip-off band. It's far simpler than that. It's not another lyrically shallow, feel-good contemporary Christian band either. It's far more real that that.
Poor Rich Folk is no more than a window into the lives of the four musicians who make it up. It's a window into their relationships with the people around them, their relationships with God, their relationships with one another. The band is made up of songwriter Luke Brawner (rhythm guitar and lead vocals), Randy Fuller (lead and rhythm guitar, mandolin, vocals), Jon Vanderveer (upright and electric bass) and Andy Brannon (drums, percussion, and backing vocals).
Based out of Fort Worth , Texas , Poor Rich Folk seeks to challenge those who hear their music with the Gospel as it has been revealed to them through their own personal life experiences. Their message is meant for the ears of those who are found as much as, (and sometimes more than) it is for those who are lost.
Their simple music and honest, conversational lyrics can appeal to nearly any audience in all kinds of venues, from churches to clubs to coffeehouses. On May 8th, 2005 the band's first full length studio album was released--very appropriately entitled, Poor Rich Folk, "No More Than a Window.".
