Plump is:

Doug Payne -  Drums & Vocals

My name is Doug "Big Daddy Kane" Payne.  I play around on the drums.  I spent my first 18 years living in Wichita Falls, Texas, amusing myself with any/all adventures you can conceive of that occur in Anytown, USA.  Back then, my family enjoyed listening to the soundtracks to musicals like "Camelot" and "Fiddler on the Roof" while we washed the dishes.  In addition, I remember that the first cassette I bought (when I was nine) was the Hall and Oates epic masterpiece "Big Bam Boom".  I also had some Duran Duran tape, and looking back that tape totally sucked.  With this kind of musical background, I was obviously extremely prepared for a life dedicated to rock-n-roll.  Eventually I discovered the world of good music, and when I say good music I mean all of Phil Collins solo albums (I mean all of them. That dude is talented), and I decided to move to San Antonio to go to school and play music.  For those of you not in the know, San Antonio is the heavy metal capital of the world.  It's tough to make it in a town when other bands have names like Violence and Hate, Spanked with a Goody, and Hard Attack.  But I tried and failed and failed.  Eventually, I graduated from school and decided to take my act to the musical epicenter of the world: Houston Texas.  What a town.  After playing in a band that changed it's name 4-5 times, I hooked up with Al, Andrew, and Dave, and I loved what I was hearing.  So we got Plump going, and it's been one sweet ride.  Another thing:  I like Lone Star Beer, I like listening to music, and I love playing music.  That's about it.Doug likes: The Meters, the Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers, The Band, Phish, Jesus Christ Superstar, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Dr. John, Bob Marley, Little Feat, Galactic, Mofro, Willie Nelson, Widespread Panic, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, The Black Crowes, Steely Dan, Soulive, pretty much all Blue Note recording artists, James Brown, KDTU, Del McCoury Band, Yonder Mountain String Band, North Mississippi All-Stars, Traffic, Sly and the Family Stone, etc. etc. etc.

Al Bear - Guitar & Vocals  Bio Unavailable

Andrew Rice - Bass & Lead Vocals

Andrew is a natie of New Orleans, LA and has lived in Houston since May of 2000.  Andrew's Influences are diverse but if they were to be boiled down he would list these groups:  The Roots, Sublime, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Faith No More, and The Funky Meters.  Mr. Rice had only been playing his hooked up 70's P-Bass for a month when he began to play with Doug & Al.  Before meeting up with Doug & Al he was a guitar player of sorts.  "I just realized one day that I wasn't interested in guitar anymore.  The music I was listening to had little, if any, guitar presence.  So I decided to play bass.", says Andrew.  Who is 23 years of age and ready for the Plump Life.

Dave Flores - Saxophone  Bio Unavailable
