
The creative singer and composer Mafalda Minnozzi was born in Pavia, in northern Italy, under the sign of Virgo on September 21st in Pavia. She revealed her talent, her interpretive power and natural sense of pitch in her first music lessons at school and singing in talent contests as a teenager.
She grew up listening with attention to the most expressive artists of the 30s and the 40s American Jazz like Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, Billie Holiday and later Sarah Vaugham, Frank Sinatra, Edith Piaf, Sade, Annie Lennox, Elis Regina, Ornella Vanoni, Nat King Cole, Joe Cocker and Lucio Dalla. Ennio Morricone’s themes have always aroused in her strong emotions. Her admiration for these artists and her natural passion for music spurred her to take part in several festivals and to open shows of acclaimed national artists across Italy, accompanied by her own band. From 1987 to 1995, Mafalda's popularity grew as she sang to ever increasing audiences.
In 1991, Mafalda moved to Rome in search of broader horizons. During this period, she began to sing in several clubs attended by important representatives of Italian literature, poetry and journalism. In 1993, she won the third place in the "Festival di Castrocaro Terme" and recorded her first CD together with the festival's nine finalists. In this way people started to talk about the talent of “the girl from a small town” who sang and interpreted with original passion.
In the same year, an important artistic collaboration with the Italian pop star Scialpi began. This partnership lasted for two years and resulted in two CD's as well as two successful tours playing to sold out arena crowds throughout Italy and Europe duetting a new version of the hit “Pregherei”.
In Rome she decided to study voice and the classic song styles of Naples with the renowned maestro Gustavo Palumbo and to study acting with Roberto Marafante, director of La Rancia Theatre Company. In this school she had the opportunity to meet Saverio Marconi, famous director and producer and founder of the company spcialized in “musical”. In this period her strong passion for the theatre started.
In 1994 Mafalda was contracted by RAI (Radio Televisione Italiana) to participate in the historic national daily Tv show “Uno Mattina”. There she developed her skills not only as a singer but also in presenting musical segways, gaining much national popularity during her two year tenure.

In January 1996 Mafalda arrived for the first time in Brazil to present a series of shows at the club "Paradiso" in Rio de Janeiro. Her love affair with Brazil began here. Her concerts at “Paradiso” met with instant success and Mafalda started to be invited to the most popular TV programs in Brazil and in a short time she has become a national “phenomenon”.
