In just three short years of playing acoustic music, Jordan Tice has accomplished a great amount. He has performed with Marty Raybon, Mike Auldridge, Mark Schatz, Ron Stewart, Dede Wyland,
Frank Wakefield, Gary Ferguson, and Sally Love. He has performed
at such notable venues as the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, the Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival, The River of Music Festival,
The Watermelon Park Bluegrass Festival, The State Theatre, and the Athy Bluegrass Festival in
County Kildare,
Ireland.
Born to a bluegrass family, Jordan began playing the guitar at the
age of 12. Initially interested in rock and jazz, he did not discover bluegrass
until the age of 15 after a trip to the Grey Fox Bluegrass festival. After this,
Jordan embarked on developing his own style of flat-picking guitar.
In the summer of 2004, between his junior and senior years
in high school, Jordan recorded his first release for
Patuxent Records entitled
"No Place Better".
The CD showcases Jordan's talent not only as a player but also
as a composer, and arranger. The CD which consists of mostly original
tunes features a stellar ensemble of Mark Schatz on Bass and claw
hammer banjo, Ron Stewart on fiddle, Mike Munford on
banjo, and Akira Otsuka on Mandolin. The CD
helped solidify Jordan's reputation as one
of the up and coming guitar
players in acoustic
music.
Currently, Jordan is a freshman at Towson State University in Maryland,
studying Jazz guitar performance and composition. He plays with Gary Ferguson,
Blue Light Special, and is working on putting together an ensemble
to play his own
music.
