We are passionate about bringing a message of revival through the powerful tool and God given gift of music. Our goal is to reveal the MERCY of an AMAZING God who wants to bring about healing and restoration to broken lives.
DENISE BRIDGES Singer/Songwriter
Denise was originally trained as an Opera singer, but she finally found her niche as a contemporary Christian artist and song writer. In September of 2006, Denise and her band, Child of Mercy, released the much anticipated EP, "The Narrow Road." The song You Are, track 1 on her CD, earned her song-writing recognition at the 2006 ISC International Songwriting Competition and was chosen as a finalist for song of the year in the 2007 King Cat Songwriting Competition. In addition, Keith Mohr/Founder of Indieheaven– IndieHeaven.com, the leading organization supporting Independent artists in Christian music, announced that Child of Mercy was nominated for "Artist of the year" in the 3rd annual "Momentum Awards". Performer Magazine also took an interest in the music and asked to feature the band in their San Fransisco based magazine. All five tracks on their Cd can be heard all over the country on several different radio stations. Child of Mercy will receive additional exposure as a record company picked up one of the songs to be included in a compilation Cd entitled "Music to live by" which will be marketed and sold nationally.
When asked about the heart behind her music, Denise says, "I am passionate about revealing the heart of God because of the overwhelming love and mercy He has shown me in my own life. It amazes me to think that God would use my broken life as a testimony to His enduring mercy and love. I am His CHILD OF MERCY and He's given me a passion to see healing and revival in the hearts of people." When hearing her music, Denise’s passion is evident …her catchy melodies are mingled with insightful lyrics that resinate and minister to the depths of the soul.
Steve Jones, Pastor of Worship and Creative Arts at Venture Christian Church (formerly known as Los Gatos Christian Church) states, "In my opinion, Child of Mercy deserves success in ministry because their attitudes are right and their motives pure. And they deserve commercial success because of their talent and willingness to work hard at their craft. Denise, along with the group, has a deep burden for the lost, born out of her own experiences as a long-time seeker. She displays this burden through her ongoing ministry to our youth drama group, SOS, as well as her writing for Child of Mercy. Her commitment for evangelism is obvious in her original scripts as well as her song lyrics."
Denise is currently working with new musicians from the bay area and recently teamed up with another singer/songwriter, Chris Rooke from Sunnyvale, Ca. They share the same passion for ministry, complimenting one another with their similar songwriting styles.
TESTIMONY:
Psalm 40:2-3; "He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire, He set my feet on a rock and gave me a place to stand, He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord."
"At the tender age of 6, my Mother began teaching me about Jesus and instilling in me her own life-changing faith. I vividly remember telling her I wanted to ask Jesus into my heart and kneeling with her to pray. I was raised in church, but as a teenager I began to feel like I was missing out, wanting to see what the world had to offer me. I truly believed that if I surrendered to God, I would be losing so much. During this time God tried to get my attention, but in my stubborness I resisted Him with tears time and time again. I chose to walk my own path, and in doing so, paved a trail of heartache and extreme regret. When I finally came to my end, I began to hear God's voice and I could no longer resist. Fifteen years ago I surrendered my life into the hand of the Almighty. His Love and Forgiveness transformed my life and set me on a new course. Since then, he has done a miraculous work of healing and restoration. He's made all things beautiful in His time and I am overwhelmed with gratitude."
Life has not been easy for Denise Bridges.
Coming from a broken home she experienced the pain and disappointment that crushed her expectations early in life. Although her mother continued to raise her children in church, Denise rebelled and began a long search for love, fulfillment and happiness. At an early age, she learned to suppress the pain by using vices to mask the hurt she felt in her heart. Feeling as though her self worth was dependent on how she looked, she embarked on a modeling career that caused her to spiral down even further. She soon developed an eating disorder and became obsessed with her weight. After feeling she had no control over her life and along with other disappointments, she finally came to her senses and realized that the materialism and excess she became consumed with did not fill the empty hole in her heart. It was then that the Lord, in His great mercy and love, called her back to Himself. In May of 1992, Denise surrendered her life into the hands of the Almighty. Denise reminisces, "In Christ, I found the love, purpose and fulfillment I was so desperately searching for. Over the past fifteen years, God has proven His faithfulness in that ALL THINGS work together for the good."
Denise currently lives in San Jose, California with her husband, Russell and their three children, Cassie, Jasmine, and Jaden, where they attend Venture Christian Church in Los Gatos.
