Charmaine DaCosta was born and raised in St. Andrew, Jamaica. Starting out as a solo artist, Charmaine became one of the founding members of the once renowned Worl-A-Girl, dancehall Reggae girl group.

After leaving the group in 1995, Charmaine started to independently write and produce her own music- reggae heavily influenced by rock, folk, funk, country and R&B- an amalgam all music forms she came to appreciate after moving to the USA.

Now a born again Christian, as singer/songwriter, executive producer and entrepreneur, Charmaine has utilized all her experiences from Worl-A-Girl as well as her independent ventures to craft a sound all her own in the world of Reggae gospel. Her new CD "A Prayer" is chock full of musical expressions that would have one thinking that it is an unfocused work, but, DaCosta disagrees. "If you know reggae music you will realize that almost every track, though not overtly reggae, has undeniable reggae-bility...I made up that word, I think." "We are the sum total of all our experiences. Some are good and some take us through the fire, but each is an important aspect of the shaping of our lives; mine have shaped my ministry.

God bless and walk good!
