AWAIT THE DAY was formed in November of 2006 originally just to lead worship at a men’s retreat only to find out that God had more in mind than just a one time event. After this particular weekend the guys felt that there was more to come than the occasional weekend event. The guys started rehearsing more every week and writing original songs that seem to just keep coming. At that time the band consisted of Ben Fontenot, Justin O’Neal, Eddie Boyer and Dusty Crawford. Later in 2007 Dusty left the band but still remains close as they all actually go to the same church. Never the less, the band was without a drummer and had no immediate prospects. This started the search and a lot of acoustic gigs. Later in 2007 they ran into Jeff Arnold who at the time was not playing and was more than happy to get back in a band. Since then, the band has played with a few different drummers for recording as well as live shows but currently consists of only the original three members, Ben, Eddie and Justin.
AWAIT THE DAY is a band driven by their faith and motivated to share the word with every breath. They continue to press on into the unknown with new music all the time. They are devoted to God and his music and are working their way to the top. The guys continue to move forward always staying positive in any situation. AWAIT THE DAY is not just looking for that hit song to make it "big". There is meaning and hope behind every lyric. There is a message to be shared in every song. And, there is a passion for Jesus Christ that will not be replaced by fame or anything this world has to offer.
"One of my favorite lyrics (I don't belong here) is from the band Switchfoot," says singer Ben Fontenot. "That is the most powerful statement I think I've ever heard...it's so true". "We are here to make a difference but we are not here to stay". The band feels that they have been called to serve a higher purpose than just playing music in the garage or having a good show at some bar. They believe that what they say and do in this life directly affects theirs' and others' salvation. On a journey to save, with edgy guitar licks and melodic ballads as their tools, they inspire the crowd as well as draw them into their world of songs.
